Below is a recipe on how you can make an effective homemade hand sanitizer to help prevent the spread of the disease.
What Ingredients Do You Need?
Making homemade hand sanitizer requires a few ingredients:
- 2/3 cup of rubbing alcohol
- 1/3 cup of aloe Vera gel
- 5-10 drops of any essential oil (Lavender, Eucalyptus, Rose Oil, etc)
Pour the rubbing alcohol and aloe Vera gel in a bowl and stir until completely blended. The aloe vera will add thickness and moisturize your skin. Add in several drops of essential oil and blend. Essential oils will not only leave your skin smelling good but also protect it from sun damage. Next, whisk all the ingredients together and pour into a container. Label your hand sanitizer with an adhesive strip.
Using Homemade Hand Sanitizer Safely
Using hand sanitizer is a great alternative for soap and water, it however should not be a substitute for proper hand washing. DIY hand sanitizer recipes is only recommended in extreme situations and when you have the appropriate ingredients or tools to make it.
As long as the alcohol content is at least 60%, then its effective at proper wash of hands. Homemade hand sanitizer should be kept away from children since they are more prone to improper hand sanitizer usage which could lead to risk of injury.
