Everyone needs to put a little effort to look good, and if you are wondering how to begin, here is a steps step guide to applying makeup to help you look beautiful and natural. It is a light makeup guide for your day out that’s simple and easy to follow.

Cleanse Your Face

Start with your daily cleansing routine to get rid of pollutants and grease on your face. Scrub your face to ensure that you don’t have a layer of dead skin but be careful not to dry out your face by washing it too much.

Moisturize Your Skin

Moisturization is an essential step in a good makeup routine because it ensures that your skin is adequately hydrated. Hydrated skin allows your makeup to glide and sit smoothly on your face.  Choose a moisturizer with sunscreen to protect your skin.

Primer or Color Correction

The primer is the makeup base. It smoothens and evens out your skin complexion and fills out open pores. A primer also helps your makeup stay on longer. Dap a little primer on your cheeks, chin, nose, and forehead and blend it into your skin using a foundation brush or fingertips.

It’s the start of building up your makeup. Ensure that you choose a foundation that matches your skin type and tone to help set your makeup properly. However, if your skin is even-toned, the foundation step may be optional for you. Ensure that you use the right amount to cover your face to achieve a beautiful glow and skin tone.

Put small amounts of foundation on your cheeks, nose bridge, chin and forehead, and neck if you want light foundation coverage to blend the foundation using your fingertips to blend it towards the edges. For heavier foundation coverage, use a buffing brush or damp foundation sponge to blend it on your skin. Ensure that you get the right shade of foundation to suit your skin tone. Do not forget to blend your foundation on your eyelids, ears, and neck to avoid shouting differences in your skin tone.

Use the concealer right after foundation to help avoid the usage of more products than you need. Dab your concealer on the areas you want to cover, such as blemishes and under your eyes, using your pointed concealer brush. To achieve the perfect coverage, use your brush to press the primer into your skin rather than brushing or rubbing it on.

Highlighter, Bronze, and Blush

Blush will give your cheeks a pop of color and give your complexion a finishing touch, while a shimmering highlighter will provide you with a great glow, and the bronzer will help your contour.  Apply highlighter and bronzer to areas likely to get hit by the sun, including forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. Smiling while applying the products to the apples of the cheeks brings out the best results.

Setting Powder

The setting powder locks in your powder and absorbs the excess makeup and oils on your skin. Use just a little of the power with a large fluffy makeup brush. Blend it well to avoid “cakey” buildup.

Eye Makeup

The next step is using your eye pencil to add filling to your eyebrows and then apply your eyeshadow. Blend the eyeshadow with an eye brush for an excellent finish. Follow this with your eyeliner and finish the look with mascara.

Lip Makeup

Use a lip liner that’s the same shade as your lipstick to prevent smudges outside your lips. After prepping your lips, sweep on your lipstick, and you are good to go. You can reapply them in the day when there is a need.

Setting Spray

The makeup finishing spray is an optional step used by makeup artists to hold their makeup in place. It helps avoid smudging, fading, and creasing of your makeup. You can also use the setting spray during the day during touch-ups. Some two options for the makeup setting spray are a satin finish and a matt finish.

Now and then, you may want to put on some makeup. However, applying makeup may seem like a complicated process, and you may not be sure where to start. The above step-by-step guide will help your makeup look fabulous and flawless.
